Best Practices Certification:

On May 20, 2009, the Webster Police Department was one of three Monroe County police agencies singled out to be recognized by the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services for an outstanding Sexual Offender Community Tracking and Notification Program. Webster police were awarded a Best Practices Certification, which recognized collaboration, vigor, and vigilance in managing sex offenders in the Webster community.

National Sex Offender Public Registry:

On October 24, 2005, New York Governor George E. Pataki announced that the U.S. Department of Justice added New York State to the National Sex Offender Public Registry (NSOPR). This registry allows states and territories to share sex offender data with citizens nationwide, free of charge. With a single query from any web-capable computer, the NSOPR searches public, state, and territory sex offender registries to deliver matched results based on a name, state, county, city / town, or zip code.

NY-ALERT System:

As part of the NY-ALERT system, through which 5.8 million New Yorkers receive alerts on everything from natural disasters to traffic congestion, you can now sign up for sex offender alerts.

After registering you will receive sex offender relocation notices whenever a level two "moderate-risk" or level three "high-risk" sex offender listed on the public sex offender registry moves into or out of your designated community of concern. You can register online or by calling (888) 697-6972 Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
