Dental Offices

All dental offices who discharge to any Publicly Owned Treatment Works must have amalgam separators installed. Beginning May 12, 2006, the amalgam separators must have a minimum 99% removal efficiency. If the dental office was operating before May 12, 2006, they must have a amalgam separator that will capture a minimum of 95% removal efficiency.

All dental offices were instructed that they must keep records for dental amalgam separators, waste storage, recycling of dental amalgam waste and elemental mercury, record keeping and prohibitions on certain activities.

All dental offices in the Town of Webster were inspected in 2009 and are now all in compliance. The dental offices will be inspected every three years by the Town of Webster Pretreatment Staff.
